Wellness-focused weekend at Marriott Hutchinson Island

If you are looking for a peaceful getaway that supports a healthy, alcohol-free lifestyle, Marriott Hutchinson Island in Stuart, Florida, is worth considering. My recent stay combined oceanfront golf, nutritious food, relaxing amenities, and plenty of activities—without needing alcohol to enjoy the weekend.

An Oceanfront Golf Day

I started my stay with 18 holes of golf from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The course was right along the ocean, creating a beautiful setting for a full day outdoors. At approximately $60 for the round, it felt like an excellent value.

The course was uncrowded during my visit, which gave the experience an exclusive, peaceful feel. There was no rushing, no waiting on every hole, and plenty of time to enjoy the scenery. For anyone who enjoys golf and wants a more relaxed weekend atmosphere, this was a wonderful way to begin the trip.

A Healthy Lunch at Altitude

After several hours on the course, I was ready for lunch. The hotel’s restaurant, Altitude, offered reasonably priced options, including healthy choices. I ordered grilled mahi-mahi served over a bed of greens. It was light, satisfying, and exactly what I needed after being outside all morning.

The meal left me feeling recharged rather than weighed down, which made it easy to continue enjoying the day.

A Serene Poolside Room

When I checked into my room, I discovered one of the most relaxing features of the property: a beautiful pool and jacuzzi area directly in front of the first-floor rooms.

If you request a first-floor room near the pool, you can step outside and be almost immediately at the water. The setup created a private, villa-like feeling. It was peaceful, convenient, and perfect for unwinding after golf.

I could easily imagine spending the afternoon reading, taking a swim, or simply relaxing beside the water.

Plenty to Do Without Alcohol

One of the best parts of this stay was that there were many ways to enjoy the resort without centering the experience around drinking. Activities included:

  • Jet skis

  • Boat rides

  • Pottery and painting

  • Electric bike tours

  • Yoga classes

  • Golf

  • Swimming and relaxing by the pool

For people in recovery, sober travelers, or anyone taking an alcohol-free break, having a variety of activities makes a big difference. You can stay active, connect with nature, and enjoy your surroundings without feeling like anything is missing.

Creating a Sober-Friendly Drink

The hotel did not have a dedicated mocktail menu during my visit, so I came prepared with an idea for an espresso “virgin” martini. A simple alcohol-free version can be made with:

  • Fresh espresso or decaf espresso

  • Vanilla syrup, used lightly

  • A splash of unsweetened milk or a non-dairy alternative, if desired

  • Ice

Shake the ingredients well with ice and strain into a chilled martini glass. It creates a fun, sophisticated drink without vodka or alcohol. You can also ask the bartender whether they are able to prepare an alcohol-free version using the ingredients available.

For anyone choosing sobriety, it can be helpful to know exactly what you enjoy drinking and to feel comfortable asking for it.

The Overall Value

My total cost for one night and 18 holes of golf was approximately $300. Considering the oceanfront setting, golf, pool and jacuzzi, dining options, and range of activities, I felt it offered excellent value for a wellness-focused getaway.

A Great Option for a Sober Staycation

My stay at Marriott Hutchinson Island was a reminder that a weekend getaway does not need to revolve around alcohol. Golf, sunshine, healthy meals, water activities, yoga, art, and quiet time by the pool were more than enough to create a memorable trip.

For anyone looking for a sober-friendly staycation, a golf weekend, or simply a healthier way to recharge, Stuart, Florida, offers a beautiful setting. Marriott Hutchinson Island provided the perfect combination of relaxation, recreation, and wellness—and I left feeling refreshed, restored, and ready to return.
